My first love is music...and always will be

It's been such a long time since i last played on my piano at home. I miss it. It really feels different to have to be away from it. I only realised how much i need it when I'm away from it for so long. A part of me seems to be missing...a really big part. I'm not my usual self without it. I noticed.

The first time i ever played, i fell in love. After some time, i was ready to bring music in to my life, to share my life with it. Then it became a permanent part of me. Is this what eternal love feels like? Does eternal love really exists? I've always wondered.

Music is my first love...and always will be. You don't have to be real good at something to really like it. You just have to be passionate about it. That is what i've learnt from music...one of the great lessons in life.

My last Guitar Class here

Cycled there since my Dad wasn't back yet. A bit late.

Even though i had finished Book 1, i brought it along anyway cause i didn't know what else to bring.

Teacher wanted to hear me play the last page.

"Practiced?"

"Er...no."

"Haha...Okay, never mind. Come, play."

Struggled to get the right chords...but i survived. Hehe

"Okay, i don't think i can give you Book 2 since you're not coming already. Let me see if i have any other pieces for you." He flipped through his clear folder. "Hmm... is there any specific thing you would like to learn?"

"Umm...maybe strumming."

"Oh. Strumming. Okay. Let me see if there're any songs that are suitable. If i give you Chinese songs, you can read them?"

" -.-' Nope."

"Haha. Alright. You're not familiar with those old songs, are you?"

"Not really."

"Have you heard of xxx(i forgot the song title he mentioned)?"

"Hmm... i don't think so."

"What about 'When You Say Nothing At All'?"

"Yup."

"And 'Sealed With A Kiss'?"

"Uh huh. Yea."

He then pulled out the music sheets from his folder.

So he taught me those two songs. First was 'When You Say Nothing At All'. He played once through then showed me the plucking and strumming pattern. Then, he left me to practice and went to teach another student. I could learn it roughly in quite a short time. Still needed practice to change the chords.

Then it was 'Sealed With A Kiss'. That was umm...thougher for me. Quite a lot of chord changes here and there. So there was my weakness ><
I like the first song better XD

When it was time already, Teacher told me, "These two songs, you can go and photocopy them if you want."

I was most grateful^^ "Thank you, Teacher. I'll pass them to my Sister to hand it back to you."

I don't know when i'll be back to see you again but thanks a million for what you have taught me. Music IS my life. The instruments are my medium to express myself. Thank you for teaching me to play the Guitar and giving me another tool to colour my life.

Happy Teacher's Day in advance.

River Flows In You

Learnt this new song today. River Flows In You by Yiruma. He must have much much more great songs like this but i only heard this one and it 'connected' to me. Don't know why, it was like love at first sight...or more like first sound. Befits his album title - First Love.

When i first heard it, i was thinking, i had to learn this song! This is how much i like it. So i searched the web and no thanks to my favourite site to download music (i couldn't find it there ><), i found the mp3 and sheet music! (yay!) Here's the link, for those interested mp3 file http://www.supload.com/music/Yiruma-piano-Yiruma-River-Flows-I-download-CWLOI5C8I769.html

i just couldn't describe what i felt when i'm listening to this song...it's like i'm free from whatever worries i had.
One more thing i like about this song is that it kind of suits my playing style. Undeniably, it's quite easy to play but still, i need some practice.

if i have the chance, i would like to perform this piece someday XD

Well, just thought of sharing this^^
